Residents of Prague watched with relief as the waters of the rain-swollen Vltava River crested Wednesday without inundating the historic city center, as Europe continues to reel from some of the worst flooding on record.

Changing wind patterns and cooler temperatures helped slow a 77,000-acre wildfire's approach toward Denver early Tuesday. Despite the encouraging signs, authorities urged some 13,000 residents to move out of the blaze's possible path.
