A new Nepali law — which goes into effect in April — will require all mountain climbers to bring back nearly 20 pounds of trash from their Everest journey. That number doesn’t include their own garbage. It’s estimated that there are 50 tons of trash sitting on Everest. That’s six decades worth of discarded tents, food containers, even bodies of climbers. According to a Khaleej Times report, those who don’t follow this law will endure a fine.
