More than 100 more people were wounded, the Associated Press reported. Many victims were lawyers who gathered near the government-run hospital after prominent attorney Bilal Kasi was shot and killed by at least one gunman on a motorcycle. Kasi was on his way to work. Shortly after 4 p.m. local time, a man walked into the crowd of mourners and detonated the blast. Pakistan’s Taliban offshoot group, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, claimed responsibility for the attack, the Guardian reported. A free press is a cornerstone of a healthy democracy.
