Through Smoke and Flame: Views of the Colorado Wildfire

Here are some facts about the wildfires in Colorado: They’ve gutted 347 homes, damaged 125,000 acres and forced the evacuation of 35,000 people. Fires in the Southwest forced the closure of part of Zion National Park. Some 20,000 homes remain threatened and at least one person has died. And high winds and extreme heat in the already parched Southwest has only fueled the flames.

The Denver Post has been snapping pictures since the first outbreak. They’ve provided us with some of those, which you can view in the slideshow below.

And here are some photos of the Waldo Canyon Fire, located in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. The photos were captured by people who live just outside of Colorado Springs.
