Lebanon ends 10-month standoff, forms new government
Lebanon formed a new government on Saturday after 10-months of political deadlock, according to an announcement made Saturday.
Prime Minister Tammam Salam, appointed to the post in April following former Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s resignation, announced the new government on national television.
Salam said he hoped to hold presidential elections by May.
Workers reject UAW representation at Volkswagen factory
To the surprise of United Auto Workers supporters, workers at a Volkswagen AG plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee voted against union representation on Friday night, following three days of voting.
Republican U.S. Senator Bob Corker said he was ‘thrilled’ about the vote’s outcome. After the first day of voting on Wednesday, Corker said the automaker would expand the factory if the workers voted against the UAW.
