Malaysia’s leader confirms wing fragment from missing MH370

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Wednesday that experts in France have confirmed that the wing fragment found last week is from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight that disappeared last year, the Associated Press is reporting.

Razak said during a news conference that debris that was discovered on July 29 on the French island of Réunion in the western Indian Ocean is indeed from MH370.

It’s been more than a year since the Boeing 777 disappeared. The plane was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014, but then turned south, and vanished from radar somewhere over the Indian Ocean. It was carrying 239 passengers and crew.
