Take flight! Make an airplane from a cardboard box for a simple and incredibly fun way to engage in imaginative play with your child.

Materials

Directions

1

Cut off the flaps from the top of the box.

2

Round the tops of two of the cut-off flaps to form wings.

3

Cut a slit in two opposite sides of the box. Insert the rounded wings into the slits on either side of the box.

4

Tape the end of the wing inside the box.

5

Cover a small plastic tub with duct tape.

6

Draw the shape of a propeller on one of the leftover cut-off box flaps, then cut it out.

7

Place the plastic tub facedown to trace a round shape on leftover cardboard. Cut it out.

8

Optional: Draw details on the wings and design the nose of your airplane.

9

Glue the propeller onto the tub.

10

Glue the round circle on top of the propeller.

11

Glue the propeller to the front of the box airplane.

12

Cut out a rectangle with a tab and a slit. Create a slit in the back of the box, then insert the rectangle into the box slit.

13

Cut out a right-angled trapezoid with a tab, then insert it into the rectangle's slit.
