Craft a Pine Cone Rabbit

Just like Nature Cat, you and your child can become Backyard Explorers Extraordinaire! In this activity, create a woodland creature — like Daisy the Bunny — out of a material easily found in nature: a pinecone.

Directions
Ask your child to draw bunny feet and ears on the fabric or felt and cut them out.

Have your child choose whether to make a rabbit that is standing up on its hind legs or a rabbit on all four feet.
For a standing rabbit: Stand a pine cone on its base. Glue the ears to the top of the pine cone, in the gaps between scales. Glue four feet to the base of the pine cone for a rabbit that is standing on its back legs.
For a rabbit on all fours: Lay the pine cone on its side. Glue the ears to the top of the pine cone, near the front, in the gap between scales. Glue four feet to bottom side of the pine cone for a rabbit that is on all four feet.

Take a small piece of cotton and roll it into a ball with your hands, or use a small pom-pom. Glue it in the place for a tail.
Glue a bead as the nose. Cut a short piece of twine and thread it through the bead. Tie knots on either side of the bead to keep the string in place, or glue the twine inside the bead. Fray the ends of the twine into whiskers.
Glue googly eyes above the nose. That completes your bunny!
