Make a Book About Manners

Oct 29, 2018

Good manners are one way of treating everyone we meet with respect. When kids create their own manners book, they learn important social skills while strengthening their writing ability.

Materials

Directions

1

Place one sheet of white paper on top of 3 to 8 sheets of the lined paper. Staple down the left side of the stack of papers to make a book.

2

With your child, draft a list of ideas of simple but important manners. Here are a few examples: When I ask for something, I say please. I say please and thank you. I wait my turn. I say “excuse me” when I need someone’s attention. I use kind words. I look at someone when I talk to them. I give compliments. I knock before entering the bathroom.

3

Your child is now ready to write their book! One each page, write and illustrate one “good manners” tip. Younger children can tell you what to write, or you can draw dotted letters that she can trace.

4

Once the book is complete, your child can add a title and decorate the cover – and then find someone to read it to!
