Make a Match With Nature

Matching up different pieces of nature will get your child to appreciate the big and little details of the world around them.

Directions
Start by finding leaves, weeds, or other bits of nature. Look for things that can be picked easily without harming the plants and that can be easily matched up.
Spread the matches out all over yard to boost the exploration.
Using sidewalk chalk, write, "Can you find my match?" on the sidewalk and set the bits of nature that need to be matched up.
Ask your child what she wants to match up first. She can take the bit of nature with her to find the match if she wants.
Once she’s done you, engage her in conversation about the pieces of nature. Ask her to describe how they feel. For example, are they soft or hard? Prickly or smooth? What colors are they?
