Peg’s Giant Dice Game

We’ve got a really big problem! In this activity you’ll make a giant die to solve the problem. These simple math games are ones that you and your child can play together.
Materials
Dice Directions
Before you and your child make a giant die, first examine regular dice. What shape are they? How many sides do they have? What numbers are on the sides?
Cut six square panels from the cardboard. To make them the same size, cut out one square and use it as a template to trace the other five. Make sure each corner is perfectly square.

Lay your pieces out in a basic cube pattern. Then tape the edges together with duct tape.

Fold into a cube shape, taping the inside edges again for extra strength and durability.

Reinforce the die with more duct tape on the outside edges.

Use your scissors to cut out the colored dots for the sides of your die. You’ll need 21 dots total.

Glue the dots on each side with a glue stick: one dot on one side, two dots on another, and so on until you have dots on all sides.

Repeat these steps if you would like to have two giant dice, and get ready to play a math game!
Game Directions
Use cardstock or sheets of paper to make games tiles.
Write fun math problems on about ¾ of the games tiles, leaving the rest blank. You can create as many tiles as you like. Use the list of math problems below for ideas and examples.
Place the tiles in a path, occasionally leaving a blank tile in between the math tiles — these are like rest stops!

Roll the giant dice and move ahead that many spaces. Solve the math problem on the tile.

Take turns rolling and solving problems. The first player to reach the end wins, even if there’s only one player!
