Reinforce math concepts your child is learning at school such as sorting, conversion, geometry and measurement.

Before You Play

This game is best suited for children age seven and up. It requires an understanding of the “greater than” and “less than” symbols. Check this list of math milestones to see if your child is ready. There are duplicate squares on the board, e.g., an item that equals four cups and an item sold by quart. For a quick game, let your child cross off multiple squares for the same item. For more of a challenge, have your child find individual items for each square.

Materials

Directions

1

Tell your child that he’s going to play a game at the grocery store. Show him the board game printable before you go inside the store.

2

Explain that he will find items described in the squares. He’ll check each item off as he goes. When every item on the board is checked off, he’s finished the game!

3

Ask him, “What was the hardest item to find? What was the easiest?”
