Pumpkin Face Shapes Match Up

Create one pumpkin face with shapes to match on another pumpkin. It's a pumpkin face match up for kids to learn about shapes in the Halloween spirit!
Materials
Directions
Cut 2 pumpkin shapes out of the orange construction paper. Tip: Cut them at the same time to get 2 pumpkins that are exactly the same. Fold them in half to get a symmetrical pumpkin.
Cut a stem for each pumpkin out of the green construction paper. Glue to the back of each pumpkin.
Cut out random shapes from the black construction paper to be used for the pumpkin faces. Cut out at least 2 of each shape, such as triangles, circles, squares, rectangles, stars, and crescents. Cut mouth shapes. Tip: Fold the black paper in half to cut 2 shapes at a time that match. Separate into 2 equal piles.
Begin the game by creating a face for one of the pumpkins. Place different shapes on the pumpkin (without glue!) to create a face.

Next, ask your child to copy the face using the shapes in their pile. Help your child learn the names of the different shapes by talking with them as they choose shapes.

Once the face has been made, clear the shapes off the pumpkins and do it again!

After your child has had enough matching, glue on their pumpkin face shapes in place to create a fun pumpkin decoration!
