Twinkle Twinkle Letter Stars

Astronomers, the scientists who study stars, have divided the night sky into 88 official constellations. A “constellation” is a group of stars that form a recognizable pattern when viewed from Earth. Now you can create constellations in your home – while also teaching alphabet skills!

Directions
Before you begin, ask your child what they know about constellations. Build on their knowledge by looking at constellations online, in a book, or in the night sky.
To make your own constellations, trace and cut out 26 paper stars. Write one letter of the alphabet on each star, or have your child trace or write each letter.

Outline each star with glue and add glitter! Allow the glue and glitter to dry.

Help your child help as you tape each star to the ceiling, creating your own constellations. You could even shape one like a favorite animal!

At night, lie in bed with your child and sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” as you look up at the stars. Take turns finding the letters of the alphabet. You could even turn the lights off and use the flashlight to find each letter.
