Your little bookworm will love this tasty bookworm cake!

Ingredients and Materials

Directions

1

Slice 4 inches off the top of one of your cakes and 2 inches off the side to create Book #1.

2

Repeat Step 1 to the other cake to make it just a little bit larger. This will be Book #2 and the bottom base of the cake.

3

Apply a thin layer of frosting as a crumb coat to both cakes. Refrigerate for about an hour.

4

In a separate bowl, add the remaining cake scraps that you cut off in the previous steps.

5

Crumble the cake scraps. Stir in half a cup of white frosting, mix well.

6

Roll the cake/frosting mix into two-inch balls (cake pop size).

7

Melt one of your assorted candy melt colors according to the instructions on the package. Dip your cake pop stick end into the melted candy and then insert it into the center of one of the cake balls.

8

Allow the candy to set, then coat the entire cake ball in melted candy.

9

Repeat Steps 7 and 8 until you have 4 cake pops in alternating colors. Set the cake balls aside.

10

Remove your crumb-coated cakes from the refrigerator. With the remaining white frosting, apply a thick layer to the top and bottom edges, as well as one side of the cake to form the "pages" of the book.

11

With one of your frosting colors, apply frosting to the top and remaining edge of the cake. This will be the "cover" of the book.

12

Using your pastry bag and medium round tip, apply frosting to outline the entire "cover" of the book.

13

Repeat Steps 10-12 with the other crumb-coated cake, making sure to use the other color of frosting for the second book's "cover".

14

Carefully add the smaller of the two book cakes to the top of the larger book cake - you can use two spatulas to make the transfer easier!

15

With your icing writer, add a book title and book cover decorations to the front "cover" of the top book cake.

16

Pipe frosting along the bottom of both cakes to complete the book covers.

17

Remove the 4 assorted cake balls from the sticks. Add them to the front of the top book cake to make a "bookworm".

18

Using the candy melt or frosting as glue, add the 2 candy eyes to the "head" of the cake ball bookworm.

19

With your red icing writer, add a smiling mouth.

20

Dip the 2 pretzel sticks in candy melt. Insert them into the head of the bookworm to make the antennae. Set your cake on your Book Party table for a fun, sweet treat to celebrate your little bookworm!
