Materials

Directions

1

Gather your supplies.

2

Melt the candy melts until they reach a smooth consistency. This can be done in one of two ways:

  • Double boiler method – set a pot filled with a few inches of water on the stove. On top of that place a glass or metal bowl that fits snugly over the pot without touching the water. Stir frequently as the candy melts into a smooth consistency.
  • Microwave method – place the candy melts in a microwave - safe glass or ceramic bowl. Heat on 50% power for 30 seconds. Take the bowl out and stir, repeating the 30 - second intervals as needed until the candy melts into a smooth consistency.

If the candy melts start to harden or form clumps you can thin it out using a small amount of coconut oil, vegetable oil or shortening flakes. Stir the oil or shortening into the candy melts a little bit at a time.

3

Once the candy melts are ready, spoon a generous layer into each of the candy molds.

4

Place one cookie into each of the candy molds, making sure to gently push it down into the melted candy.

5

Spoon another generous layer of melted candy on top of the cookies until you have filled each mold.

If you notice air bubbles in the top layer of the candy melts or its not settling flat in the mold gently shake the mold until the melted candy is flat and free of bubbles.

6

Place the candy mold in the refrigerator for 15 minutes for the melted candy to harden. After 15 minutes remove the candy mold from the refrigerator and take the candy-covered cookies out by gently pushing each one from the underside of the mold. If the candy-covered cookies do not easily separate from the mold, put them back in the refrigerator for a few more minutes.

7

Once the candy-covered cookies are ready, use the writing icing to write math symbols or equations on them. Be sure to follow the directions on the icing packaging for drying time.

Serve these fun math equation cookies at your Odd Squad party or place each one in a cellophane bag, tie it closed with some ribbon and stick an Odd Squad favor sticker to the outside of the bag. This is one equation your guests won’t want to wait to solve!
