FRONTLINE was a winner three times over at the 47th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards, held in New York City May 27 and 28, 2026.

The investigative series, produced at GBH in Boston and broadcast nationwide on PBS, was honored by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for its documentaries on the Russia-Ukraine war, U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, and the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

At Thursday’s Documentary Emmy ceremony, 2000 Meters to Andriivka won the Emmy for “Outstanding Direction: Documentary.” Released in festivals and theaters as well as on PBS, this FRONTLINE FEATURES and Associated Press documentary is from the Oscar-winning team behind 20 Days in Mariupol, including Ukrainian filmmaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Mstyslav Chernov, producer and editor Michelle Mizner, producer Raney Aronson-Rath and executive producers Aronson-Rath and Derl McCrudden (see full credits).

Following his unforgettable account of the war’s toll on civilians in Mariupol, Chernov turned his lens towards Ukrainian soldiers. With his AP colleague Alex Babenko, Chernov followed a Ukrainian brigade battling through approximately one mile of a heavily fortified forest on a mission to liberate the Russian-occupied village that gives the documentary its name. The resulting film, which aired on PBS in November 2025, told the stories of the soldiers on the war’s front lines — documenting who they are, where they came from, and the impossible decisions they face in the trenches as they fight for every inch of their land.

The previous night, at Wednesday’s News Emmy ceremony, Strike on Iran: The Nuclear Question won the “Outstanding Investigative Journalism: Long Form” Emmy, and Status: Venezuelan won the Emmy for “Outstanding Feature News Story in Spanish.”

A joint investigation from FRONTLINE, The Washington Post, Evident Media and Bellingcat, the December 2025 documentary Strike on Iran drew on both rare, on-the-ground access and in-depth forensic analysis. From directors and producers Adam Desiderio and Sebastian Walker (see full credits), the documentary probed the impact of the June 2025 Israel-U.S. bombing campaign on Iran’s nuclear program, including the scale of destruction on the ground and how the strikes were carried out — offering critical context on what preceded the current war. An updated version of the documentary with new reporting was released in March 2026.

From director Mauricio Rodríguez Pons (see full credits), Status: Venezuelan also premiered in December 2025. The documentary, a ProPublica production in partnership with FRONTLINE FEATURES, told the story of one Venezuelan family in Florida trying to stay together — and stay in the U.S. legally — as they navigated the shifting legal immigration landscape under the Trump administration’s policies.

“These wins reflect the enduring impact of public media journalism,” says FRONTLINE editor-in-chief and executive producer Raney Aronson-Rath. “We share this great news with our editorial partners at The Associated Press, The Washington Post, Evident Media, Bellingcat and ProPublica, our courageous and committed film teams and, of course, with GBH, PBS, our viewers, and the now-closed Corporation for Public Broadcasting, whose decades of support helped to power our investigative reporting. Our work to serve the public and tell stories that matter continues.”

PBS this year received 51 News & Documentary Award nominations and GBH earned 24. FRONTLINE has now received 113 News & Documentary Emmy Awards since the series began.

All of this year’s Emmy-winning FRONTLINE documentaries are available to stream, for free, in the PBS App, at pbs.org/frontline and on FRONTLINE’s YouTube channel.
