Third Canyon, Ankarana Reserve QTVR
(click and drag in image, left or right, up or down)
A steep and treacherous climb up a five-storey block of
limestone topped with eroded tsingy spires provided this view.
All around are roughly 200-foot cliffs of limestone, topped
also by the sharp tsingy. To the west, towards the sun, is the
savanna and, beyond (though out of view here), the Mozambique
Channel. The Third Canyon, in which these images were taken,
is one of several in the Ankarana Reserve that are broken and
riven by tectonics and erosion.
