INNOVATIVE DESIGN STUDY

123

Architect: Norman Foster & Partners
Foster's plan left the footprints of the original twin towers empty to be used as the future site of the memorial. He proposed monumental walls made of steel and stone to create a "sanctuary for private remembrance and reflection." The footprints and memorial sites would be surrounded with a large, green park known as "World Square."
