Architect: Studio Daniel Libeskind
Daniel Libeskind titled his site design "Memory Foundations," and left the World Trade Center's remaining slurry wall as a basis for the memorial, "revealing the heroic foundations of democracy for all to see." He designed the site so that a "Wedge of Light" would shine on the "Park of Heroes" each year on Sept. 11 between the time the first plane hit and when the second tower collapsed.
