Chronic Care Breakfast Forum
Fred Friendly Seminars, WTTW Channel 11 and The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago hosted a chronic care breakfast forum to bring together health care providers, insurance representatives, businesses, community organizations, students, caregivers, and of course, people who live with chronic illness every day. Focusing specifically on the needs of the Chicago community and moderated by Bill Kurtis, the "WHO CARES: Chronic Illness in America" program was used as a catalyst for an important conversation about how to better support people with chronic health conditions and those who care for them.
Held in the Magnuson Auditorium of The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, our forum attracted 75 participants from the community who were engaged in an active dialogue about the challenges posed by chronic illness and caregiving in Chicago.
Chicago Caregiving Resources Guidebook
WTTW and Fred Friendly Seminars produced a compilation of caregiving resources to help educate viewers about local organizations, services and resources available to individuals coping with chronic conditions and those who care for them. The guidebook is posted on www.networkchicago.com and available in the 80 branches of the Chicago Public Library.
Illinois Association Of School Nurses Annual Conference
The Illinois Association of School Nurses held its 44th annual conference in Oakbrook, Illinois on October 26-28. The organization distributed a "WHO CARES: Chronic Illness in America" brochure, flier and discussion guide in each of the 150 registration packets. The flier encouraged participants to view the broadcast of "WHO CARES: Chronic Illness in America" on WTTW and to join in the national conversation on chronic illness by using the discussion guide to spark conversations in their own communities.
