Hundreds of gay and lesbian couples filled county clerk offices across California
Tuesday to exchanged marriage vows on the first full day same-sex nuptials were
legal throughout the state. Spencer
Michaels reports from San Francisco on the first day of the same-sex marriages
and the legal challenges ahead as the state prepares for a November ballot initative
on the gay marriage issue.

California's Top Court Overturns Gay Marriage Ban California's top court overturned a gay marriage ban Thursday in a ruling
that paves the way for the state to allow gay and lesbian weddings. The justices,
in a 4-3 decision, said domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute
for marriage.
