Documentary Traces Family's Struggle After Katrina

Herbert Gettridge; FRONTLINE photoSix months after Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans, producer June Cross came across Herbert Gettridge working alone on his home in the lower Ninth Ward. Over the next two years, Cross would document the story of the extended Gettridge clan--an African-American family with deep roots in New Orleans--as they struggled to rebuild their homes and their lives.

"Frontline" correspondent and filmmaker Cross describes her documentary "The Old Man and the Storm" which will air on PBS's "Frontline" Jan. 6.

Preview: Watch two clips from "The Old Man and the Storm" on "Frontline's" Web site. Next week on "Frontline's" Web site, you can read updates on the Gettridge family and watch special video extras.
