Thousands of refugees fleeing the fighting in Syria, particularly the town of Jisr al-Shughour, have entered makeshift camps in the Hatay province of southern Turkey. Syria, a country of about 22.5 million people, also has several hundred thousand Iraqi and Palestinian refugees.
