Katha Seidman

Name: Katha Seidman
Job: production designer

"When I found out how much it was going to cost to do [the boat] in animation, I said, 'Let's build it.' I have a friend up in Maine who does all kinds of wacky things. I said, 'You want to build this 18th-century paddle boat?' He said, 'That would be very interesting.' I sent him the pictures. He got plans from the shipyard here for the hull. And he built it. It's a very, very strange boat."
