In 1967, local villagers in Africa’s Equitorial Guinea captured a remarkable baby gorilla with a coat of pure white. The film tells the story of this amazing animal, from his loving upbringing by humans to his eventual death from skin cancer in 2003. It also tracks the revolutionary changes in our understanding of how best to care for gorillas that have taken place during Snowflake’s lifetime. Buy the DVD. This film premiered February 19, 2005.

This video was awesome. I never knew some much about Gorillas and I’m glad I watched this movie. I was amazed when I saw and heard about Snowflake, he was so cool.

i took my children to the zoo we saw snow flake 2001 he look so human and he even posed for the cameras like all men we br0ught and white snow flake teddy

My daughter loves this video. However, the video is often “unavailable” or stops halfway through. Would be much more enjoyable without the technical difficulties.
As a proud New Yorker I’m very pleased to know that we have a zoo that is trying to make a difference in this day of age where our wildlife is disappearing. I attend the zoo with my wife and daughter as much as we can, we have the family membership which is fantastic. Congo is my favorite attraction followed by the Africa plains and my daughters favorite the Butterfly Garden.

if I was snowflake, I would revenge humans for killing my mother. However, I would forgive them because they save a lot of my fellows, especially New York Zoo.
I dont like the message this video is giving.
It’s saying that we can take an animal out of the forest as long as we understand it and can take care of it.
We should really fight to save the animals and leave it in its natural environment instead of trying to make a
“natural” environment for it after capturing it.

I thought that this film had a very good message. It showed us the importance of the proper care of our animals. It also touched quite a bit on the importance of wildlife conservation. It was heartwarming to hear that there are people out there trying to help out. The earth has a lot of problems, but we can help make it better. Thanks, NATURE. Make more, pretty please! :)
I agree with some of the things that have been said, such as keeping these animals in the wild where they belong. In the case of Snowflake though, I believe the right thing was done. Being the fact that he was white made him visible and therefor would have been an easy target for poachers and other predatory what have yous! He surely wouldnt have lived a long and good life like he did. Most albino animals dont live to maturity in the wild . So I am thankful for Snowflake, he sure could put a smile on my face!
