Prediction #4

Grocery stores are going to run out of food, and we'll need to live on what we've stored at home.

(bob in grocery store)Even delivery to grocery stores has changed a great deal since the introduction of computers. With "just in time" delivery services, product deliveries are more complicated and timed down to the hour. Stores know exactly when a product needs to be restocked before the shelf is empty, and automatically call for a delivery to arrive just when they need it.

This intricate system seems prone for disaster, but it's still operated by humans. People still make and package the products, take the orders, and make the deliveries. If a problem does come up, it will be discovered very quickly. In the worst case, you may have to settle for another brand or drive to another store.
