Navigation and traffic control systems will fail, putting travelers in peril.

Displaying her faith in the system, FAA Administrator Jane Garvey flew across the country during the roll-over on New Year's Eve. We hope the in-flight movie was good, because her trip was otherwise uneventful.

Every plane flew without any Y2K-related problems, but a few of the radar and weather monitoring systems did stumble a bit. However, technicians were able to start them back up without causing a problem.

Amtrak quickly fixed a problem when its train tracking system in Philidelphia failed to keep track of the correct train symbols.
