Karen Schmeer, a film editor who had worked on several films by director Errol Morris, was killed in New York on Friday, when she was hit by a getaway car driven by robbers who had just held up a pharmacy for perscription drugs.
The films ‘Winter’s Bone’ and ‘Restrepo’ were top winners at Sundance, which closed over the weekend. “Restrepo” is a documentary about a U.S. military battalion serving in the deadliest region of Afghanistan, and “Winter’s Bone” is a drama about a family in the Ozarks. On Friday, Jeffrey Brown talked to NewsHour online correspondent Hari Sreenivasan from Sundance, where he was one of the jurors at this year’s festival.
The Grammys were held in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Beyonce took home six awards, the most ever for a female artist in a single year, and country-pop singer Taylor Swift won for best album of the year.
