As school districts around the United States struggle with starting a new school year amid a pandemic, Dr. Scott Atlas, a fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution said “we know that the risk of the disease is extremely low for children, even less than that of seasonal flu.” Atlas’ remarks came at the end of a White House event that featured parents and educators joining the president, as well as the vice president and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos delivering the administration’s message. “We believe that we can safely reopen our schools, said Vice President Mike Pence, who heads the president’s coronavirus task force. “We know that it’s best for our kids.
