Sen. Susan Collins wins reelection in Maine

The Associated Press has called the Maine Senate race for incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins. Democratic competitor Sara Gideon gave a concession speech this afternoon.

Collins was considered one of the most endangered Republican senators going into the 2020 election, and Democrats had targeted her seat as a potential pick up in their quest to gain a majority in the Senate. Now just five Senate races have yet to be declared, four of which are for seats currently held by Republicans. Democrats have gained two new Senate seats but lost one, bringing the current balance of power to Democrats 47, Republicans 48.
