You can buy a candy bar or even rent a movie from a vending machine — and now, if you live in the Westlawn neighborhood of Milwaukee, you’ll soon be able to borrow library books.

According to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel a 24-hour Express Vending Library is slated to open in the community there in mid-November. The machine’s installation is a result of the collaboration between the Milwaukee Public Library and the Housing Authority, which operates the Westlawn Public Housing Development, as a way to give residents access to library materials without the costs of a brick and mortar library.
