It’s Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2013. Here is some of the news we’re watching today. Philippines – Typhoon Aftermath 942 are confirmed dead in the Philippines, but officials predict that number will rise to 10,000 or more. A U.S. Marine general reports no buildings are left intact in Tacloban. The recovery effort is scarcely underway. Survivors are scavenging for food and water at stores and gas stations. Red cross trucks have been attacked. The storm has weakened over Vietnam but still has sustained winds of 85 mph. There are no reports of damage yet. Iran – Nuclear Talks Iran state television reports the government and IAEA have areed to expanded UN monitoring, but with no mention of its Parchin military facility. Separately, P5 plus 1 talks will resume November 20. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry seeks to reassure Arab allies and Israel saying, “This is not a race to complete just any agreement.” Democrats and Republicans openly worry President Obama is too soft on negotiations with Iran. U.S. – Veterans Day President Obama will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery at 11 a.m. ET. We will live stream the event on the Rundown.
