Reporter’s Notebook: Gwen Ifill Discusses Obama Transition Efforts

“I think one of the things that Barack Obama is very
conscious of is the desire to take all of the enthusiasm and the euphoria after
his election and tamp that down a little bit because expectations could easily
get out of hand,” she said.

Ifill also spoke about media speculation surrounding Cabinet
appointments he has not yet made.

“One of the things he has to do is feed the beast.
The media beast demands something to be said, something to happen, between now
and then,” she said. “So far, no feeding is going on, so lots of
speculation has taken its place.”
