    An earthquake in a remote area of Nepal has killed at least 157 people. The 5.6 magnitude quake hit just before midnight Friday, when many people were sleeping, the collapse buildings and triggered landslides in a region where many villages can only be reached by flood.

    Officials say the death toll will likely go higher. And then a surprise visit to Kyiv European Commission president Ursula van der Leyen met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss Ukraine's path to join the European Union.

    She praised Zelenskyy for making excellent progress in pursuing judicial and anti-corruption reforms while fighting its war with Russia, granting Ukraine E.U. membership would signal continued international support for the nation.
