2010 Isle de Jean Charles
This closer shot of Isle de Jean Charles shows how much land is left, a quarter-mile wide strip, no more than two miles long. Between 1932 and 2010, the Terrebonne Basin of Louisiana has lost enough land to cover San Antonio, Texas. Currently there is an effort underway to restore and maintain the coastline of Louisiana, which will hopefully stave off further land loss in the area.
