U.S. eases rules for travel, business in Cuba

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration eased rules Friday for U.S. citizens wishing to travel to Cuba or do business with its growing ranks of independent entrepreneurs, hoping to spur greater economic freedom and democracy on the island.

Cuban leader Fidel Castro announced Tuesday that he will not seek another term in office when the country's parliament meets Sunday to elect a president, citing his ailing health. Castro, 81, is the world's longest ruling leader.
