‘American Taliban’ Lindh freed after 17 years in prison

John Walker Lindh, who became known as the "American Taliban" after his capture on an Afghanistan battlefield in late 2001, was released Thursday from a federal prison in Indiana.

‘American Taliban’ John Walker Lindh to be released

After being in prison for nearly two decades, John Walker Lindh, the young Californian who was captured by U.S. forces in the invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, is set to go free.
