The man received an electric shock while working on the Arena Pantanal in the city of Cuiaba, according to the Associated Press. He died a half hour later from cardiorespiratory arrest. Muhammad Ali Maciel, 32, is the eighth worker to die during construction on stadiums for the World Cup, which begins on June 12. Event organizers could not be reached for comment, the AP reported. The head of emergency services in the area said officials are investigating the cause of the shock, but Maciel did appear to be wearing safety equipment when the accident happened. The incident comes as pressure mounts to complete the tournament’s three unfinished stadiums. The Arena Pantanal has the most work yet to be done. We're not going anywhere.
