Directions
Count the number of people who will be playing musical chairs. Subtract one from this number, and that is the number of chairs you’ll need. Arrange these chairs in a circle with the seats facing outward.

Next, get your music ready. It helps to have a few songs in mind or a playlist that you can play through, such as this “Alma’s Way” playlist! You will need someone to control the music, as it will be stopped and started throughout the game.
Arrange your party guests around the circle of chairs and explain the game. When the music plays, guests should walk clockwise around the circle of chairs. As soon as the music stops, they should try to find the nearest chair and sit in it as quickly as possible.

Play the music! Let the children walk around the chairs while the music is playing. At random intervals, stop the music and let the players try to find a chair.

One player will be without a chair. This player is out for the next round. Remove one chair from the circle and continue playing in the same way.

Continue this process until there are two players and one chair. The player who sits in the chair at the end is the winner!
This is a great game to play a few times to allow different children to win. Older children might also like to be in control of the music, and stop and start it for younger players. Try other variations like a new style of music or walking counterclockwise to make this game feel fresh every time!
