Build a Bug House

Perfect for cool summer camp projects or favors at a bug-themed birthday party, these bug houses are fun and educational crafts for kids.
Materials
Directions
Draw windows and door on the rounded container.
Cut out the door and windows with a craft knife or scissors.
Cut a large hole in the lid of the container, then allow your child to paint the bug house however she wishes.
Cut a length of screen to cover the windows and doors. Note: It's easiest to cut it to the circumference of the container. Apply hot glue to the inside of the container, then press the screen to hold it in its place.
Cut out a circle of screen larger than the hole you cut in the lid. Apply hot glue to the hole in the lid, then press the screen to hold it in its place.
Place leaves and rocks your bugs will enjoy inside the bug house.
Option 1: Catch bugs for the house. Keep them for a short observation period and then release them.
Option 2: Create little bugs out of clay or paper to stick inside as pretend pets and play!
