Directions
Using the twig template, cut out the leaf and twig patterns.

Using the patterns, cut 2 leaves out of light green felt and cut one twig out of dark green felt. You can tape or pin the patterns to the felt to make cutting out the pieces easier.

Fold the felt for the twig in half and sew the edges together using a whip stitch.

Sew veins onto the felt leaves.

Attach the leaves to the twig, sewing little "x's" with black thread. Go over each "x" a few times until it feels super sturdy.

Wrap the pipe cleaner tightly around the crayon. Then, take the free end of the pipe cleaner and push it up inside the twig until the pipe cleaner reaches the top. Now the twig will be sturdy. Plus, your child will be able to twist it into crazy shapes.

Have your child test the new writing twig by drawing, writing letters or numbers, or just doodling.
