Create a “My Favorite Toys” Book

Jun 27, 2018

Make a book about all of your child's favorite toys!

Materials

Directions

1

Have your child look around her room and point out all of her favorite toys.

2

On paper, have her draw a picture of each toy.

3

Together, label each drawing with the name of the toy and write a sentence about why she enjoys playing with it.

4

Stack the pages and punch three holes down the side.

5

Cut small pieces of yarn, thread them through the holes, and tie bows with double knots to create the books.

6

Together, read through each page and talk about the different toys, pointing out that both girls and boys can play with each one. Talk to your child about how Baby Bear felt embarrassed about playing with a doll. Ask your child why she thinks he felt this way and what made him feel better. Remind your child that it's okay for boys and girls to play with all different kinds of toys such as trucks, dolls, and blocks.

7

Boys and girls can play with the same toys and they can grow up to have the same jobs, too. Look through books and magazines to find pictures of men and women doing different jobs such as being doctors, cooks, construction works, and teachers. Make a list of the different jobs that you find and talk about how men and women can do all of those things. Ask your child what type of job she wants to have one day and have her draw a picture.
