Create Colorful Cloud Dough

Make multiple combinations of cloud dough using ingredients from your cupboard. It's a fun sensory medium for the kids in your life.
The basic recipe for cloud dough is 1:8, oil to flour–for every cup of oil, add 8 cups of flour. This can be scaled down or up according to your needs (1/2 cup oil to 4 cups flour, 1/4 cup oil to 2 cups flour, 2 cups oil to 16 cups flour, etc.).
The amount of color added depends on how intense the desired color. More coloring = deeper color.

Directions
Let's start with color. If using the oil or gel-based food coloring, start by adding the chosen color into the oil. If using the powdered food coloring, begin by adding it to the flour.

Stir. Explain to your child that it's not very colorful after the stirring.
After the oil is added to the flour, have your child use his hands to massage the color into the flour more completely. This is a fun way to build your child's fine motor skills!

Have your child add glitter or essential oil. Stir or massage to combine.

Now it's time to play! See what shapes your child creates.
