Make a Ribbon Streamer

A child runs outside with a ribbon streamer blowing in the wind behind them.

Explore movement and dance with this colorful ribbon streamer activity. Have your child pick their favorite ribbon color and discuss which colors might represent different feelings for them. You could also talk about how different movements on the outside can support how we feel on the inside. Dancing and large movements can help us connect with one another and with ourselves.

Materials

Directions

1

Gather your materials together.

2

If using a recycled cardboard tube, decorate the tube however you would like. Punch small holes around the rim of the tube.

3

Cut ribbon into short strips.

4

For recycled tubes, thread a piece of ribbon through one of the holes and tie it to secure it. Repeat this process until there is ribbon tied into each hole. If using a lid, tie ribbon pieces around the edges of the lid.

5

Play some music and dance with your new ribbon streamer!
