Does your child love color-by-number coloring activities? In this activity you’ll use that same idea to help your child practice identifying letters while decorating your Christmas tree.

Materials

Directions

1

Have your child cut a Christmas tree out of green cardstock paper.

2

Write a series of letters on a sheet of white paper. You can use letters in your child’s name if you’d like. You may want to mix uppercase and lowercase letters so your child can practice recognizing those letters.

3

Glue different colored pompoms underneath each letter — this will serve as the key or legend.

4

Write the letters you used in the legend on the paper tree, scattered across like ornaments and lights.

5

Explain to your child how to use the key. Then have him glue different colored pom poms on the appropriate letters on the paper tree.
