With simple aluminum foil pieces, design a boat with your child and see how many pennies it can hold before it sinks!

Plan: Draw a picture of how you’d like your boat to look.

Design: Use a length of aluminum foil to create the boat. Don’t forget to name it!

Test: Does the boat float? Place a penny in it. Still afloat? Add another, and keep adding. Keep count of how much it can hold before it sinks!

After the boat sinks, go back to the drawing board. See if you can design a boat that holds even more pennies!
