1

Help June get out of the maze! Use the Count On June Bug! Maze printable to talk about directions. Ask your child to help June get to the end of the maze. Which path does she need to take? What objects are in the way and where are they located on the page? Encourage your child to use directional words (up, down, left, and right) or spatial sense words (under, over, next to, on top of) as they guide June through the maze.

2

Play “June Bug Says.” In this version of Simon Says, the caller gives prompts that include spatial and directional phrases. For example, “June Bug says...put your hands on top of your head,” “...walk around your chair,” “...place your hands above your shoulder,” “...put one foot in front of the other.” Take turns so that each person gets to be the caller.

3

Use directional and spatial words on day-to-day trips. When you are walking to the park or through the grocery store, ask questions such as, “Is the park next to the school?” or “Do we need to turn left or right at the end of the aisle?”
