Glowing Ghost Jugs

Get ready for Halloween with this quick and easy decorating idea that uses recycled plastic milk jugs.
There’s a ghost in Odd Squad Headquarters! Or is there? Odd Squad Agents Olympia and Otis are on the case and will need to use their math skills to collect clues and solve the mystery.
You can get ready for Halloween tricks and treats with some ghostly decorations for your sidewalk, front porch, or trunk-or-treat set up. Create cute or spooky glowing ghost jugs and then add some Odd Squad fun by using the jugs to practice counting and addition.

Directions
Draw and color in a face on the front of each milk jug. Will your ghosts be spooky or silly or friendly or lots of different ghosts? You decide!

If using tea lights, cut a hole in the back of the jug at the bottom. You can also make the hole on top wider so that you can place the tea light inside. If you are using glow sticks, you don't need to do this step.

Put at least one tea light or glow stick inside each milk jug so that the jug “glows.” Line up the ghost jugs along your sidewalk or wherever you are decorating.

Happy Halloween!

Count with ghosts! You can use the ghost jugs to practice lots of math skills. Ask your child questions such as, “How many ghost jugs have friendly faces? How many have spooky faces? Are there more friendly faces or spooky faces? How many jugs do we have altogether? Can we create a pattern?”
There are many things to count and add during Halloween. Keep the math practice going by counting candy, pumpkins, costumes and other decorations you see throughout the season.
