Transform a pair of toilet paper rolls into DIY binoculars by using a little duct tape and some imagination!

Materials

Directions

1

Help your child cover two toilet paper rolls with black duct tape.

2

Cut off a small section from the third paper roll and have your child cover it with tape, too.

3

Using hot glue (adults only), glue the small section in between the two rolls, then secure in place with some additional duct tape. Note: Hot glue does not hold very well on the slick surface of duct tape, so the additional tape in this step is important.

4

Punch holes in the sides of the binoculars (the side your child will look through) and tie on a strap made from yarn.

5

Optional: Venture outdoors with our child and encourage her to test her binoculars by going birdwatching! Ask her, “Did you hear any bird songs? What birds did you see?”
